IMPORTANT: SARDUS will pre-screen teams to make sure they understand the
standards and are ready to take the certification tests. We may ask for supporting information like previous certifications,
training records or letters of recommendation. This is an attempt to reduce the amount of tests taken by teams not ready to
test. Teams will also be screened during the first day of testing period.

New Evaluators
These clinics give SARDUS the opportunity to work with new evaluators.
We are intentionally moving very slow with the expansion of our evaluator pool so we can maintain the quality and consistency
that we expect with our certifications. Evaluators in-training work with our experienced evaluators setting up and observing
how each test is evaluated. This is a very work intensive process but our results are tests that are set up and evaluated
the same across the country. If you are interested in becoming a SARDUS evaluator please apply by contacting SARDUS

Doug Teeft - Working with k-9’s for approximate 35 years. Doug grew up with working dogs, as his father was a Dog Master
and Trainer for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
- Doug started
the first Canadian branch of American Rescue Dog Association in Nova Scotia (ARDA-NS).
- Doug currently owns and operates Teeft K-9 Center. They provide dog training and k-9 equipment.
- Doug currently has three German Shepherds at various stages of training in specialty
work including search and rescue, disaster, evidence recovery, and gas line leaks. Yes, gas line leaks!!
- Doug has worked with many agencies including; US Accellerant Dog Assoc.,California
Narcotics Assoc., US Border Patrol, US Beagle Brigade (border food inspection), Auburn University, United States Department
of Defense K-9 section, FBI Homicide division to name a few.
- Doug
coordinates searches for eastern Canada and provides detection services for their ports.
Ann Wichmann
- Ann has been training service dogs since 1975, when she became a Park Ranger in Boulder.
- Started a Park Ranger Service Dog Program and worked with a succession of three Ranger Service Dogs.
- Co-founder of Front Range Rescue Dogs, Search and Rescue Dogs of Colorado
and Search and Rescue Dogs of the United States. All of these were efforts to help teams and handlers achieve high performance
goals and do our very best for the victims.
- Ann began
working on disaster standards in 1986, and in 1991, was appointed to the FEMA Canine Subcommittee. She worked
on developing the standards and curriculum for the national disaster system until 2004.
- She is a FEMA chief evaluator, mentor and instructor, and also an evaluator for Front Range Rescue Dogs.
- Ann has been involved in the International Rescue Dog Symposiums since 1991,
and has instructed in Berlin, Stockholm, Boulder, Prague, and Seoul.
- Ann has certified five dogs to the FEMA standards and five dogs to Front Range Rescue Dog standards, including
trailing, airscent, water, and avalanche. She continues to train on a daily basis, and offers group seminars at her
farm in eastern Colorado.
John Beck - Worked with search and rescue dogs since 1997.
- He
is the past President of NASDN and has been involved with NASDN since 1996.
- John is responsible for arranging training and evaluations across the country for NASDN.
- John currently works a dog in human remains detection in Nebraska.
- John also evaluates police k-9's when not working SAR dogs.
Chuck Morris - Chuck Morris was a K9 Handler for the Kansas Department of
Corrections for eight years
- Works dual-purpose Belgian Malinois' in patrol, narcotics, tracking
and evidence searches
- He also worked a bloodhound for man-trailing
- Since changing jobs within the department, he began to work K9 SAR.
- He is currently
training Charlie, a 16-month old Malinois in trailing and area search.
Cathy Bryarly - Cathy has been working with canines for over 20 years
- Cathy has worked two law enforcement bloodhounds as a Sheriffs Deputy
- Cathy's first
dog was an area search dog and volunteered as a SAR handler for Front Range Rescue Dogs for almost 15 years
- Cathy is currently handling Jason, a 115 pound trailing bloodhound
Jeff Hiebert - Jeff has been working canines for almost 20 years
- Jeff currently has Park Ranger Service Dog Nikita that is trained trailing and HRD, she is a patrol dog but
does not do bite work
- Jeff is the current President of SARDUS and filled past roles as President
and Vice President of Front Range Rescue Dogs
